NY VFXWaala, led by Ajay Devgn, secures stake in Sweden’s Goodbye Kansas and inaugurates a collaborative studio venture in India

Renowned Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn’s Indian visual effects studio, NY VFXWaala, has established a strategic collaboration with Goodbye Kansas Studio from Sweden. NY VFXWaala has acquired a significant share in Goodbye Kansas, headquartered in Stockholm, via an overseas subsidiary. Concurrently, they have initiated a collaborative studio venture in India.

“Shaitaan,” starring Devgn, is currently in cinemas and is one of the biggest Bollywood hits of the year. NY VFXWaala’s 300-film portfolio includes Bollywood films “Bhuj” and “Malang” and Tamil-language film “Bigil.”

Goodbye Kansas specializes in creating trailers for games worldwide and visual effects for live-action productions. Its portfolio includes work on games like “Cyberpunk 2077,” “God of War: Ragnarök” and “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.” The company has ongoing collaborations with HBO, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney, Apple TV+, Paramount+ and more, and recent shows it has contributed to include “True Detective” Season 4, “One Piece” and “Carnival Row.” Its film work includes “Asteroid City” and “A Man Called Otto.”

The collaborative strategy between the companies focuses on “scalable capacity expansion” and “enhanced sales endeavors” within established business segments like VFX, animation, game trailers, and in-game content. They aim to tap into new geographical markets and leverage the growing trend of outsourcing VFX and gaming content. Additionally, they will adopt a global perspective on resource planning and talent acquisition. Plans also include seizing opportunities in the Indian and Asian gaming markets, as well as extending Goodbye Kansas’ scanning and motion capture studio services to clients in Asia and beyond. Together, they will establish a joint research and development team.

“Our endeavors involve setting new benchmarks with each project. We embrace a continuous process of learning, evolution, and adaptation to the latest technologies,” said Devgn, founder and chair of NY VFXWaala.

Goodbye Kansas board chair Per Anders Wärn added: “NY VFXWaala is an ideal partner for Goodbye Kansas, sharing the same dedication to outstanding talent, cutting edge technology and engaging narrative. This strategic partnership brings together our strengths in a way that will benefit both our organizations. Together, we’re positioned to create exceptional value for our customers, and open new development opportunities for our talented co-workers.”

“Our partnership will significantly contribute to our mutual growth and provide major opportunities for expanding production resources and capabilities, supporting Goodbye Kansas’ journey towards profitable growth,” said Goodbye Kansas CEO Stefan Danieli.

Creative head and co-founder of NY VFXWaala Naveen Paul added: “Our joint vision is to raise the quality benchmark, drive global expansion and deliver exceptional service to clients worldwide. With unwavering commitment to our goals, we eagerly look forward to expanding our business and welcoming dedicated talent not only in India but globally, to collaborate on an exciting future.”
