Shiva Krishnamurthy is set to assume the role of Executive Director of Food and Refreshments at HUL

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced significant changes and appointments to its management committee. Shiva Krishnamurthy will join the HUL management committee as the Executive Director of Food and Refreshments. Concurrently, Srinandan Sundaram, the current Executive Director, will transition to the role of Executive Director of Homecare, HUL. Meanwhile, Deepak Subramanian, the current Executive Director of Homecare, HUL, will embark on a new overseas role. These changes will take effect on April 1, 2024.

Shiva Krishnamurthy, who joined HUL in 2000, has amassed over two decades of experience in marketing. Throughout his career, he has spearheaded various initiatives such as leading Lifebuoy and Lux in skin cleansing in India and innovating Radiant (Rin) for Homecare in South East Asia. Since 2015, he has been at the helm of South Asia’s Tea business. Under his stewardship, the team has localized product mixes and built a robust innovation pipeline. The communication campaigns led by him have garnered industry accolades both in India and globally.

In his current capacity as Executive Director of Foods and Refreshment, Srinandan has effectively steered the Tea business, maintaining its stronghold in the category and fostering competitive growth in the Health Foods Drink segment, which has been seamlessly integrated into HUL under his leadership. He has laid the groundwork for expanding the food business, both in existing and new categories, and has accelerated HUL’s commitment to ‘Regenerative Agriculture and Nutritional Value’.

Deepak has guided the fabric care and home & hygiene categories to deliver robust growth, achieving impressive results in both topline and bottom-line performance. He has also spearheaded HUL’s sustainability agenda, playing a pivotal role in developing an integrated ESG strategy for the company.

Kartik Chandrasekhar, previously slated to join HUL as Executive Director of Personal Care starting April 1, has opted to pursue other opportunities outside of Unilever. The appointment for the Executive Director of Personal Care at HUL will be announced in due course. Meanwhile, Madhusudhan Rao, currently serving as Executive Director of BPC at HUL, will continue to oversee the business during this interim period.

Rohit Jawa, CEO and MD, HUL said, “I am glad to welcome him to the HUL Leadership team and truly believe that his rich experience in Foods and Beverages will be of immense help to the business. Srinandan has been a part of the HUL leadership for over seven years and has a strong track record in general management, customer development, and marketing. I am sure he will take the Homecare business to new heights.”

Expressing gratitude to Deepak for his valuable contributions, Rohit added, “Deepak returned to HUL in 2022 and since then has delivered consistent results in Homecare. Under his leadership, Surf excel crossed the USD 1 billion milestone. I wish him the very best for his next endeavour.”
