VIVO salutes Heroes

The Chinese mobile major, which has suspended all new product launches, donates over 200,000 surgical and N95 masks to frontline health workers and pays tribute to doctors and nurses through a digital campaign titled ‘Heroes Who Care’.

VIVO has released a digital campaign titled ‘Heroes Who Care’ that pays tribute to doctors and frontline health workers who are helping to combat COVID-19, the global pandemic that has claimed over 36,000 lives the world-over.

As part of the mobile major’s India’s CSR initiative, the company also donated over 2 lakh surgical and N95 masks. The company handed over 100,000 surgical masks and 5,000 N95 masks to Maharashtra alone, which currently leads the states in India with the highest number of Covid-19 cases.

Speaking to the media, Nipun Marya, Director, Brand Strategy, Vivo, said: “As a CSR activity, we are looking at healthcare professionals as a fraternity and how to make their lives a little simpler. This is not a commercial campaign. It is more about sending out a noble message on how doctors and nurses are really helping us in this situation.”

Calling for unity and fraternity, Marya added: “In these crucial times, it is vital that we all stand united and contribute towards containing this global health pandemic. We have planned to suspend all our new product launches during this period. We also acknowledge the role caregivers play in these crucial times and wish to support the government to ensure their safety.”
