After serving nearly seven years as the CEO for PepsiCo India, Ahmed El Sheikh will step down from his current role to take on new responsibilities within PepsiCo. Starting March 2024, he will assume the position of CEO for the Middle East Business Unit. In his stead, Jagrut Kotecha, currently holding the position of Chief Commercial Officer for PepsiCo in Africa, Middle East, and South Asia (AMESA), will step into the role of CEO for PepsiCo India. This leadership shift was communicated to the employees of the India office as part of a broader series of leadership changes across AMESA.

Having joined in 1994, Kotecha brings a wealth of experience as a sales and brand manager, holding comprehensive profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities. In 2018, while serving as Vice President of PepsiCo India, he played a key role in overseeing the innovations and transformation of the company’s products – Lay’s and Kurkure – tailoring them to better suit Indian consumers. Additionally, Kotecha led the successful launch of another snack, Doritos, in 2017.
PepsiCo India said it remains dedicated to strengthening its operations in India, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. “This change not only signifies a new chapter for PepsiCo India but also reaffirms the company’s dedication to nurturing leadership talent and adapting to evolving market dynamics.”
In response to the increasing demand for snacks and chips during the ongoing pandemic, PepsiCo India has introduced several new products over the past few years. The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) giant has further planned additional launches to cater to the rising demand from Indian consumers.
