Twitter releases updates to battle misinformation

Twitter has launched a slew of product, policy, and enforcement updates that have been drawn from global and Indian elections for the assembly elections of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and West Bengal.

A global cross-functional team at the microblogging site with local, language and cultural expertise will run โ€œelection integrityโ€ and ensure that the service is safe from attempts of โ€œmanipulationโ€ on the platform and clamp down on content that can โ€œtrigger violence and abuseโ€.

The microblogging giant said in a blog post that its diligence team will delete any post that โ€œmanipulates and spreads misinformationโ€ regarding the elections. Twitter has earlier said it had deployed tools to โ€œdetect and identify abusive content and postsโ€ that are most likely to cause harm. These posts are reviewed first by a specialised team.
