Twitter has launched a slew of product, policy, and enforcement updates that have been drawn from global and Indian elections for the assembly elections of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and West Bengal.
A global cross-functional team at the microblogging site with local, language and cultural expertise will run “election integrity” and ensure that the service is safe from attempts of “manipulation” on the platform and clamp down on content that can “trigger violence and abuse”.
The microblogging giant said in a blog post that its diligence team will delete any post that “manipulates and spreads misinformation” regarding the elections. Twitter has earlier said it had deployed tools to “detect and identify abusive content and posts” that are most likely to cause harm. These posts are reviewed first by a specialised team.
