Nissan Motor India has launched the all-new Gravite, a locally manufactured 7-seater MPV priced at โน5.65 lakh (introductory). Built in Chennai, the Gravite blends versatility, comfort and technology, marking a renewed growth phase for Nissan in India with an expanding product roadmap through 2027.
In a decisive move to strengthen its presence in one of the worldโs most competitive automotive markets, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of the all-new Gravite through its Indian subsidiary, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd.. The 7-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), manufactured locally in Chennai, enters the market with an introductory price of โน5,65,000, positioning itself as an accessible yet feature-rich offering for Indian families.
The launch represents more than just the introduction of a new model. For Nissan, it marks the beginning of what the company describes as a sustained growth phase in India, underlining its commitment to building vehicles that respond directly to the countryโs diverse and evolving mobility needs. The Graviteโs very name reflects this ambition. Drawing inspiration from Indiaโs 1.4 billion people and their varied lifestyles, Nissan has sought to craft a purpose-built C-SUV that blends versatility, spaciousness and everyday practicality with a strong road presence.

Thierry Sabbagh, Divisional Vice President and President for the Middle East, KSA, CIS and India, emphasised Indiaโs strategic importance in Nissanโs global ambitions. He noted that over the past year the company has focused on strengthening operations, expanding its dealer network and rolling out a product offensive designed to accelerate long-term growth. According to Sabbagh, the Gravite is not merely another addition to the portfolio but a signal of intent. With local manufacturing at Nissanโs Alliance partner facility in Chennai and a clearly defined product roadmap, the automaker is positioning itself to compete aggressively in high-volume segments.
The Gravite builds on the momentum generated by the Nissan Magnite, which has served as a cornerstone of Nissanโs recent revival in India and is exported to several international markets. By leveraging local production capabilities and a deeper understanding of Indian consumer expectations, Nissan aims to replicateโand potentially exceedโthe Magniteโs success with this new offering.

From a design standpoint, the Gravite adopts Nissanโs global design language while tailoring its stance and detailing for Indian road conditions. Elevated proportions, muscular body lines and pronounced wheel arches contribute to a commanding presence. High ground clearance enhances suitability for uneven terrain and congested urban environments alike. Signature C-shaped design elements, a piano black grille and LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights lend a modern and distinctive look. LED tail lamps, roof rails and wide-opening doors further reinforce its practicality and visual appeal.
Inside, the Gravite is configured to function as both a weekday commuter and a weekend family companion. Flexible seating arrangements allow accommodation for up to seven passengers, while removable third-row seats expand luggage capacity up to 625 litres. This adaptability caters to large families and those requiring extra cargo space for travel or business needs. Nissan has paid particular attention to cabin space and airflow, equipping the vehicle with an air-conditioning system engineered for tropical climates, a critical factor in Indian driving conditions. Ample storage compartments throughout the cabin add to the vehicleโs everyday usability.
Technology features are aimed at delivering convenience without pushing the vehicle out of reach of its target buyers. A 20.3 cm floating infotainment display supports wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ connectivity, complemented by wireless device charging. A 17.7 cm full digital advanced multi-functional instrument cluster provides clear access to driving information. Additional features such as auto-locking doors and front and rear parking sensors enhance ease of use, especially in dense urban traffic.

Safety has been positioned as a key pillar of the Graviteโs value proposition. The vehicle comes equipped with more than 30 standard safety features. Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System, Hill Start Assist, Brake Assist System and ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution are integrated to provide improved vehicle control and predictability across varied road surfaces. For a segment where affordability often dictates compromise, Nissan appears intent on delivering a reassuring level of safety as standard rather than optional.
Under the hood, the Gravite is powered by a 1-litre petrol engine delivering 72PS at 6,250 rpm and peak torque of 96Nm between 3,400 and 3,600 rpm. Tuned for smooth and predictable performance, the engine is designed to handle both stop-and-go city traffic and extended highway cruising. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed EZ-shift automated manual transmission (AMT), providing flexibility to suit varying driving preferences while maintaining fuel efficiency.
In addition to the standard variants, Nissan is introducing a limited Launch Edition of the Gravite. This special version features unique styling cues, premium audio enhancements and upgraded interior elements, aimed at early adopters seeking a differentiated experience.
The Graviteโs debut is part of a broader expansion plan. Nissan has outlined an upcoming product pipeline that includes the Tekton C-SUV scheduled for mid-2026 and another 7-seater C-SUV planned for early 2027. Together, these launches signal a calculated strategy to rebuild scale and relevance in Indiaโs competitive passenger vehicle market.
By anchoring production in Chennai and aligning product development with local insights, Nissan is reinforcing its long-term commitment to India. With the Gravite, the company is betting that affordability, practicality and a strong feature setโcombined with a renewed corporate focusโwill resonate with Indian consumers seeking dependable mobility solutions.
