Independent B2B marketing consultancy IMA B2B has bolstered its advisory capabilities with the appointment of Roy Wakelin-King as Strategic Advisor, Government Engagement, Infrastructure & Industry Leadership.

The appointment reflects IMAโs growing commitment in helping clients navigate the intersection of business and government, particularly in sectors where policy, procurement, and regulation define commercial outcomes including infrastructure, mining, construction, manufacturing, transport, energy, and defence.
Wakelin-King brings more than 30 years of senior leadership experience across Government, industry associations, and the Australian Army. He has successfully managed multi-billion-dollar portfolios, delivered world-class events and led industries through major periods of disruption. Career highlights include guiding the NSW taxi industry through the disruption of ridesharing, positioning the industry for a competitive future and securing Australiaโs largest compensation and transition package; as well as executive leadership roles at Transport for NSW and Roads & Maritime, where he led a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure delivery program.
Jake Cush, CCO of IMA said the appointment marks a significant expansion of the consultancyโs offering adding the ability to support clients in industries where Government plays a decisive role.
Cush said: โGovernment engagement is fundamental to how our clients engage, grow and compete. Whether itโs tech, infrastructure, mining, energy, or construction, government priorities and procurement frameworks can make or break winning tenders and new projects.
โRoyโs appointment, is pivotal to our support in this critical area, giving clients access to rare insider expertise on how Government decides, funds, and partners.
โFew marketing consultancies can claim access to the level of Government insight which Roy brings, his appointment clearly signals IMAโs commitment to bridging goals with policy and infrastructure priorities,โ Cush concluded.
On his new appointment Wakelin-King said he is looking forward to helping IMAโs clients strengthen their government relationships and position themselves for growth.
He said: โIโm delighted to join IMA at such a pivotal juncture for Australian business and their interaction with Government. The opportunities and challenges that come from government decisions are immense and my experience will help clients navigate policy, procurement, and partnerships in ways that create long-term success.โ
The move follows IMAโs recent acquisition of Proof Communications, a specialist in business-winning tenders, further strengthening its ability to position clients credibly with both commercial and government decision-makers.
Wakelin-Kingโs appointment is effective immediately.
