MINI India has launched the all-new MINI Convertible as a CBU, priced at INR 58.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Featuring an automatic soft top, advanced digital technology and a powerful 204 hp engine, the open-top model delivers signature go-kart driving thrills with distinctive MINI design.
The all-new MINI Convertible has officially been launched in India, bringing with it a blend of iconic design, open-top driving pleasure and modern technology that reinforces the brand’s enduring appeal. Available as a completely built-up unit (CBU), the latest MINI Convertible can now be booked across all authorised MINI India dealerships, with deliveries commencing immediately. Positioned as a lifestyle statement rather than just a mode of transport, the car arrives for customers who seek individuality, performance and the simple joy of driving with the top down.
MINI has long occupied a unique space in the automotive world, celebrated for its unmistakable proportions, playful character and the legendary go-kart driving feel. Commenting on the launch, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, said that MINI stands for cars that refuse to be boring and are designed to bring smiles every time they are driven. He noted that the open character of the brand comes alive in the all-new MINI Convertible, which combines head-turning design, go-kart driving thrills and modern connectivity. According to him, the car is aimed at people who live in the moment and enjoy leaving a lasting impression wherever they go, with the MINI Convertible offering an experience that is as emotional as it is engaging.
The all-new MINI Convertible is priced at an ex-showroom price of INR 58,50,000. The price is inclusive of GST and applicable compensation cess, while excluding road tax, registration charges, insurance and other statutory levies. As with other premium offerings in the segment, prices are subject to change and depend on prevailing conditions at the time of invoicing.
In terms of design, the MINI Convertible stays true to the classic MINI DNA while introducing contemporary refinements. The front fascia features the brand’s instantly recognisable round headlights and a newly designed grille, reinforcing its iconic identity. Standard LED headlights offer three distinct light signatures, adding character and visual appeal. A specially choreographed welcome and goodbye lighting animation, complete with MINI logo projections on the sides, adds a touch of theatre and emotional connection even before the journey begins. Clean, sporty lines along the sides are complemented by short overhangs and well-balanced proportions, while aerodynamically optimised 18-inch alloy wheels in Slide Spoke and Flash Spoke two-tone designs underline the car’s dynamic stance. At the rear, vertically aligned LED tail lamps with a flush design and a black handle strip with a prominent model badge emphasise the car’s width and sporty presence.
Customers in India can choose from four striking exterior colours – British Racing Green, Chili Red, Sunny Side Yellow and Ocean Wave Green – each reflecting the playful yet premium nature of the brand. Mirror caps are offered in black or white combinations, while sports seats come as standard, reinforcing the car’s performance-oriented yet comfortable positioning.
The black soft-top roof is both functional and stylish, designed to protect occupants in all weather conditions while enabling a true open-air experience. The electrically operated roof can be fully opened in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30 km/h, with windows and side bars lowering simultaneously for an unobstructed view. Closing the roof takes just 15 seconds, while a partially open sunroof-style setting of up to 40 centimetres is available at any speed. Practicality is maintained with a luggage capacity of 160 litres when the roof is open, expanding to 215 litres when closed.
Inside, the MINI Convertible embraces a minimalist yet premium cabin design inspired by the classic Mini. The centrepiece of the cockpit is the round high-resolution OLED display known as the MINI Interaction Unit, which combines the instrument cluster and central infotainment screen into one seamless interface. Powered by MINI Operating System 9, the system offers an intuitive, smartphone-like user experience. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated with the phrase “Hey MINI,” enabling voice control of navigation, entertainment, telephony and other key functions. Digital innovation is further enhanced with the MINI Digital Key Plus, which allows a smartphone to function as the car key and be shared with other users along with personalised vehicle settings.
Technology and comfort are central to the MINI Convertible experience. A head-up display projects key driving information directly into the driver’s line of sight, while the Harman Kardon surround sound system delivers an immersive audio experience. Connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, remote services, remote software upgrades, in-car weather updates and intelligent emergency call ensure that the car remains connected, informed and safe at all times.
The driving experience can be tailored through MINI Experience Modes, offering settings such as the race-inspired Go-Kart Mode, the efficiency-focused Green Mode and the lively Vivid Mode. Under the hood, the all-new MINI Convertible S is powered by a petrol engine featuring the latest MINI TwinPower Turbo technology. Delivering 150 kW or 204 hp and a maximum torque of 300 Nm, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 km/h. Power is transmitted through a 7-speed double-clutch Steptronic Sport transmission, offering smooth, efficient and sporty performance with rapid gear changes.
Safety and driver assistance systems add to the confidence behind the wheel. Features such as cruise control, parking assistant, comfort access, rear-view camera and advanced braking systems support both convenience and safety.
