A Marketing Powerhouse Meets a Global Icon: Jill Kramer Joins Mastercard as CMO
Mastercard is turning a new page in its marketing story — and it’s a powerful one. Jill Kramer, the creative force behind Accenture’s global marketing rise, will step in as Mastercard’s next Chief Marketing and Communications Officer on December 1. She succeeds the legendary Raja Rajamannar, who will transition to the role of Senior Fellow after an era-defining 12-year run.
Kramer’s track record speaks volumes. During her tenure at Accenture, she nearly doubled the firm’s brand value—from $12 billion to $20.9 billion, as noted by Interbrand—and built a modern brand that resonated with innovation and trust. Before that, she honed her creative instincts at BBDO and DDB, steering campaigns for household names like AT&T and ExxonMobil.
Mastercard CEO Michael Miebach hailed her as a leader whose “global perspective and deep B2B expertise will be invaluable in shaping Mastercard’s next chapter.” The move comes on the heels of Mastercard’s $180 million global media consolidation under WPP Media, signaling a bold, unified approach to brand storytelling.
For Raja Rajamannar, this marks the close of an extraordinary chapter. Over more than a decade, he transformed Mastercard into a marketing-led, data-driven powerhouse—introducing multisensory branding, launching a healthcare business, and authoring the influential Quantum Marketing, now studied in over 300 universities.
Reflecting on his journey, Rajamannar wrote, “My time at Mastercard has been one of the most fulfilling chapters of my life—filled with creativity, discovery, and the joy of building something truly meaningful.” As he passes the baton, he does so “with confidence and excitement for what lies ahead.”
From priceless moments to powerful transformations, Mastercard’s brand evolution continues—with Jill Kramer now steering the story forward.
