RBL BANK ELEVATES ALIASGAR KARACHIWALA TO LEAD DIGITAL, CHANNELS & EXPERIENCE AMID AGGRESSIVE TECH TRANSFORMATION PUSH

RBL Bank has elevated Aliasgar Karachiwala as Head – Digital, Channels & Experience to accelerate its digital transformation. With 20+ years of expertise, he has digitized 270+ processes, implemented AI and automation, and delivered ₹600M+ annual savings. He will now drive customer experience, digital channels, and innovation-led growth.

In a strategic move aligned with its rapid digital-first growth ambitions, RBL Bank has elevated seasoned digital leader Aliasgar Karachiwala as Head – Digital, Channels and Experience. The appointment signals the bank’s intent to further accelerate its customer experience transformation, intelligent automation roadmap, and omni-channel delivery strategy.

Karachiwala — who brings more than two decades of experience across leading banks and fintechs — has been one of the key architects behind RBL’s digital backbone in recent years. In his previous role as Executive Vice President & Head – Applications and Automation, he spearheaded a sweeping modernization of the bank’s technology stack, successfully digitizing over 270 core processes across retail and enterprise operations.

A major highlight of his previous mandate was driving large-scale automation through AI, RPA, and Low-Code/No-Code platforms — initiatives that collectively led to annual operational savings exceeding ₹600 million. His work extended beyond automation into customer engagement intelligence, playing a central role in the redesign of customer journeys, revamping CRM systems, and overhauling KYC frameworks to balance frictionless onboarding with robust compliance.

Known internally as a transformation catalyst, Karachiwala’s efforts have earned him industry recognition with prestigious honours including the CEO Supreme Award, the Triple A Digital Award, and the Next100 CIO title — accolades that underscore his impact on innovation-led banking.

In his new role, he will not only lead digital experience design but also define the future of RBL’s channels strategy — spanning mobile banking, web platforms, embedded finance, ecosystem partnerships, and digital revenue acceleration. The bank is betting big on differentiated digital experiences — not just automation efficiency — and Karachiwala’s elevation reflects a clear shift toward experience as a growth driver, not just a support function.

With the banking sector in India at an inflection point, shaped by GenAI adoption, open banking frameworks, and invisible finance experiences, his appointment comes at a strategically opportune moment. For RBL Bank, which has already positioned itself as an agile challenger among mid-sized private banks, this leadership transition strengthens its ambition to compete at par with India’s digital-native fintechs and larger banks building super-app ecosystems.

Karachiwala is expected to deepen RBL’s unified digital operating model — converging analytics, automation, customer insights, and hyper-personalized journeys — enabling the bank to deliver high-tech, low-friction experiences at scale. His elevation reinforces RBL Bank’s continued investment in talent-led digital acceleration, signaling that experience engineering is now mission-critical to growth rather than a support layer.
