NETFLIX STRENGTHENS INDIA LEADERSHIP WITH APPOINTMENT OF VAMSI MURTHY AS HEAD OF MARKETING

Netflix has appointed Vamsi Murthy as Senior Director and Head of Marketing for India. With over a decade of experience in digital marketing, brand strategy, and media planning, Murthy will lead Netflix’s marketing strategy and audience engagement efforts, strengthening the streaming giant’s local presence and expanding its reach in India.

Netflix has announced the appointment of Vamsi Murthy as Senior Director and Head of Marketing for India, marking a significant move in the streaming giant’s ongoing efforts to deepen its engagement with Indian audiences.

With over a decade of experience spanning digital marketing, brand strategy, and media planning, Murthy brings a wealth of expertise to one of the most competitive entertainment markets in the world. His appointment underscores Netflix’s growing commitment to tailoring its content, campaigns, and communication strategies for India’s diverse audience base.

In his new role, Murthy will be responsible for driving Netflix India’s marketing strategy, audience development, and brand positioning, with a focus on enhancing consumer engagement and expanding the platform’s reach beyond urban metros. He will also lead the company’s integrated marketing initiatives across digital, social, and offline channels, ensuring that Netflix remains top-of-mind for Indian viewers navigating an increasingly crowded OTT landscape.

Netflix has been steadily strengthening its India operations over the past few years — from expanding local-language content production to opening a new 41,000 sq. ft. office in Hyderabad focused on technology and post-production. The company’s growing roster of original Indian films and series, including Kota Factory, Khufiya, and Amar Singh Chamkila, has positioned it as a major player in India’s booming streaming industry.

Murthy’s appointment is seen as a strategic step to further that momentum. Known for his ability to blend data-driven insights with creative storytelling, he is expected to lead campaigns that resonate across India’s multi-lingual and multi-cultural markets.

Industry experts view this move as part of Netflix’s broader strategy to localize global storytelling while scaling its brand presence in India, which remains one of its most promising growth territories.

With Murthy at the helm of marketing, Netflix aims to continue redefining how Indian audiences experience entertainment — through powerful stories, personalized engagement, and a distinctly Indian approach to global streaming success.
