JOURNALIST T.P. GAYATRI WINS S. ANIL RADHAKRISHNAN FELLOWSHIP

Journalist T.P. Gayatri wins the S. Anil Radhakrishnan Fellowship for her research on Munnar tea plantation women workers’ labor and survival. The fellowship, worth โ‚น50,000, supports her book on the topic, to be published in June 2026, highlighting struggles and resilience of marginalized communities.

T.P. Gayatri, a journalist and Chief Sub Editor at Mathrubhumi Kochi Unit, has been awarded the S. Anil Radhakrishnan Fellowship for her research on the labor and survival of women workers in Munnar tea plantations. The fellowship, instituted by the Kesari Memorial Journalist Trust and the family of late journalist S. Anil Radhakrishnan, carries a grant of โ‚น50,000.

Gayatri’s project aims to study the struggles and resilience of women workers in the tea plantation sector. Her book, “Kolunt : Oru Penn Samrathamte Athmabhashanam”, was published earlier. The research work is expected to be completed by June 2026, and the book will be published on June 23, 2026.

The selection committee, comprising Prof. V. Vijayakumar, S.D. Prince, P.S. Rajasekaran, Shiller Stephen, Anupama G. Nair, and S.S. Sindhu, chose Gayatri’s proposal from among several submissions.

Gayatri, a native of Vaikom, has been working in journalism since 2002. Her work focuses on social issues and women’s rights. The fellowship is a recognition of her commitment to highlighting the struggles of marginalized communities.
