ADOBE EMPOWERS INDIA’S STUDENTS WITH FREE AI TOOLS TO FUEL CREATIVE ECONOMY

Adobe has announced free access to Photoshop, Acrobat, and Firefly AI for students in India, reinforcing the government’s Create in India vision. Partnering with 15,000 schools and 500 colleges, the initiative equips youth with AI-driven creative skills, aligning with national goals to generate two million AVGC jobs by 2030.  

At the India AI Impact Summit, Adobe unveiled a landmark initiative that could redefine the future of India’s creative economy. By offering its flagship applications—Photoshop, Acrobat, and Firefly AI—free to students across accredited higher education institutions, Adobe is positioning India’s youth at the forefront of AI-driven creativity and productivity. This announcement, made by Adobe Chair and CEO Shantanu Narayen, is not merely a corporate gesture but a strategic investment in the country’s talent pipeline, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat and the government’s Create in India mission.

The timing of Adobe’s move is significant. The Union Budget 2026 highlighted the government’s ambition to create two million jobs in Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) by 2030. Adobe’s initiative directly complements this goal, ensuring that students are not only exposed to cutting-edge tools but also trained to harness them effectively. By partnering with the government, Adobe will establish Content Creator Labs in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges, democratizing access to industry-standard creative software and curricula. This is more than a distribution of tools—it is the creation of an ecosystem where creativity, technology, and opportunity converge.

Narayen’s words at the Summit underscored the transformative potential of this initiative: “Adobe is expanding the opportunity for creativity for millions of students across India, empowering them with AI skills, further accelerating Prime Minister Modi’s vision. I look forward to seeing what the students of India create with Adobe’s industry-leading tools, and in doing so accelerating Viksit Bharat.” His statement reflects both optimism and a recognition of India’s role as a global hub for creative talent in the coming decade.

Central to this offering is Adobe Firefly, the company’s all-in-one creative AI studio. Firefly integrates top generative AI models from partners such as Google, OpenAI, and Runway, giving students unparalleled flexibility to experiment and innovate. Unlike many generative AI platforms, Firefly emphasizes safety and commercial readiness, ensuring that AI-generated content can be confidently used in professional contexts. For students, this means not only learning how to create but also understanding how to create responsibly—a skill increasingly vital in the digital economy.

Acrobat Pro, another cornerstone of the package, enhances productivity and collaboration. Students can edit text and images seamlessly, preparing them for the demands of modern workplaces where efficiency and adaptability are prized. Combined with Photoshop’s creative power, the toolkit equips learners with a comprehensive suite of skills that span design, content creation, and document management. One highlight was the premiere of ‘Kathāvatār’, a series of five short AI films based on Indian folklore, created in partnership with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The cultural resonance of ‘Kathāvatār’ is particularly important.
