Samarjit Choudhry, who previously held the position of Chief Strategy & Growth Officer at Media.Monks, has now joined Brave New World as Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer.
A seasoned marketing professional, Samarjit’s career began in 1994 at Karishma Advertising as an Account Manager, where he worked for two years. He then joined Leo Burnett as an Account Director, spending four years handling brands such as Limca, Maaza, and Dabur. Following this, he moved to Orchard Advertising as Branch Director, where he spent over five years. Delving into the creative realm, he took on the role of Vice President at Virgin Comics, collaborating with prominent figures like John Woo, Nicolas Cage, Guy Ritchie, Will Smith, Shekhar Kapur, and Deepak Chopra.
Samarjit also served as Director of Anantara Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. for a few years before returning to Leo Burnett Group India as Vice President. At Leo Burnett, he managed the agency’s largest business group, driving significant organic growth. He gained global recognition as a “Star Reacher,” ranking among the top 100 performers within the Leo Burnett Network worldwide. He played a crucial role in developing a model for HDFC Life that correlated advertising spend and efficiency with actual sales data. His notable achievements include transitioning HDFC Standard Life to HDFC Life, including a logo change, and securing four Cannes Lions for creative excellence.
Promoted to Executive Director at Leo Burnett Group, Samarjit successfully expanded the agency’s presence in the Delhi market by securing major clients such as RSPL Ghari Detergent, TV Today Network, DLF, Panasonic, JK Lakshmi Cement, JK Tyres, and TimesJobs. He also served as Chief Growth Officer for a year, overseeing revenue growth for the entire organization. Briefly, he held the position of Senior Vice President at Ogilvy & Mather. In 2017, he joined Happy mcgarrybowen as President, contributing to the creation of major brands like Ola, Myntra, Cure.fit, and Flipkart. He also had a short stint as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Embibe.
Throughout his career, Samarjit has played a pivotal role in building brands and businesses, maintaining his drive for over 20 years in the marketing and advertising industry. His core expertise lies in launching and scaling brands through various media channels, crafting compelling brand strategies that align with business objectives and resonate with consumers. He is known for his strong analytical thinking, combined with creative prowess, to deliver superior solutions.
