The advertising industry has lost a stalwart with the passing of Samir Gangahar, fondly known as Sam, who served as President – North at Leo Burnett India. A visionary leader, creative strategist, and mentor to many, Gangahar’s influence on the industry was profound, shaping brands and inspiring teams with his unparalleled passion and insight.

Gangahar passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025. While the cause of his death has not been disclosed, his absence leaves a deep void in the advertising fraternity.
With an illustrious career spanning over three decades, Gangahar’s contributions to the industry were nothing short of transformative. Before joining Leo Burnett in 2007 as Executive Director, he spent 17 years at J. Walter Thompson (now VML), where he rose to Vice President and Director of Client Servicing. His appointment as President – North in 2015 marked a turning point for Leo Burnett’s northern operations, leading the agency into an era of innovation, strategic expansion, and groundbreaking creative work.
Renowned for his belief in “Purposeful Brands,” Gangahar championed campaigns that blended creativity with social impact. His work not only shaped businesses but also resonated across the Publicis Groupe network, earning him widespread admiration and respect.
In a heartfelt statement, Leo Burnett India mourned his passing: “For 18 years, Sam treated this agency as his home and us as his family. Your absence leaves an ache in our hearts, but your love will always guide us.”
