Gaurav Banerjee Takes the Helm as Managing Director and CEO of Sony Pictures Network India

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) is embarking on a new chapter with Gaurav Banerjee stepping in as the Managing Director and CEO. Banerjee officially began his tenure on Monday, ushering in a new era of leadership for the network.

SPNI announced on social media, “We are excited to welcome Gaurav Banerjee as our new MD & CEO. With his vision to advance SPNI’s legacy and set new industry standards, we look forward to continuing our commitment to excellence in execution.”

Banerjee’s appointment is expected to guide SPNI through its recent challenges and boost the performance of its flagship Hindi general entertainment channel, SET India. At Star India, Banerjee played a key role in launching several highly successful shows that dominated both linear TV and digital platforms. As Head of the Hindi Content Studio, he introduced a string of series that consistently ranked among the top 10. One of his notable achievements was the launch of “Anupama,” which has become a major hit and is now in its fourth year. This show, adapted from the Bengali series “Sreeymoyi” on Star Jalsha and the Marathi show “Aai Kuthe Kay Karte!” on Star Pravah, quickly became the leading show in Hindi GEC Urban after its debut in 2020.
