DEVIKA BULCHANDANI CEO OGILVY NORTH AMERICA

Ogilvy has announced the appointment of Devika Bulchandani as Chief Executive Officer of Ogilvy North America and Global Chairwoman of Advertising. In her new role, Bulchandani will be responsible for leading and driving Ogilvy’s core business functions across the United States and Canada across advertising, brand and content, PR and influence management, experience, growth and innovation, and health. She will also extend her support to Ogilvy’s advertising business across the global network.

In remarks made after her appointment, Bulchandani said, “Few people blazed trails in this industry the way that David Ogilvy did, and I am invigorated by the opportunity to work with Andy to shape Ogilvy’s future. At this time of immense change, I look forward to harnessing the creative brilliance and diverse expertise of Ogilvy’s global network to solve problems and create lasting value for clients.” Until recently, Bulchandani was President of North America for McCann Worldgroup. Prior to taking over that role in December 2019, Bulchandani was President of McCann New York, the company’s lead office.

Under Bulchandani’s stewardship, the New York office had had notable growth and industry recognition, earning the agency a host of creative, effectiveness, and innovation awards. In 2019, Campaign Magazine recognised her by as U.S. Advertising Agency Head of the Year. Over the past four years, McCann New York has won as many as 100 Cannes Lions and was the second-most awarded agency in 2019 in the world. Again, under her leadership, McCann was named the Most Creatively Effective Agency Network in the U.S. by the Effie Awards in 2019.

It was in 1997 that Bulchandani joined McCann New York’s strategy department, going on to play a core role in transforming ‘Priceless’, the Mastercard advertising concept into a global business platform, covering a range of digital and experiential marketing programmes. She rose through the ranks and co-founded McCann XBC, the unit dedicated to Mastercard, where she became President.

Bulchandani also spends time for social causes concerning equality, diversity, and inclusiveness and is a founding member of Times Up Advertising, where she has been an advocate for equality for women in advertising, particularly for women of colour. On International Women’s Day in 2019, Bulchandani convened a meeting of industry colleagues for a discussion in partnership with NYWICI, AAF, and Bloomberg Media that brought together a number of pioneering women of Madison Avenue. In 2017, she was named “Working Mothers of the Year” by She Runs It and has also been a recipient of the AdColor Innovator Award.

Bulchandani has volunteered for industry and community projects, including working with the Ad Council and is also an active Board Member of the Ad Club in New York.
