Cheil Worldwide named Hong Kong 2018 Creative Agency of the Year following the release of CB Asia Creative Rankings

This year Cheil Worldwide has managed to outrun Ogilvy and take out the 2018 Hong Kong Campaign Breif Asia Creative Agency of the Year Title. Over the following past years its always been Ogilvy and Cheil Worldwide that have fought it out for the top position in Hong Kong. But this year the story seems to be different, Cheil is one of the stars of this year’s creative Rankings. Their two year haul of 2185 Ranking points not only sees them take out the 1st position in Hong Kong but also catapults them up from #20 overall in Asia last into the Top 10 Most awarded agencies in 2018.

The 2017-18 awards season has been a bountiful one for Cheil. With 1590 Creative Ranking Points over the past 12 months the agency was one of the top handful of performing agencies at the global and regional award shows.

In the individual creatives ranking, Cheil Worldwide’s Paul Chan is the #1 ranked creative in Hong Kong. Chan was also placed #1 in last year’s Creative Rankings.

With #2215 points, Chan is one of the star performers of this year’s Campaign Brief Asia Creative Rankings – both as the ECD of Cheil Worldwide Hong Kong and also as an individual creative. Chan has jumped up from #33 overall in 2017 into the Asia Top 10 Hottest Creatives Ranking this year.

Over 2017-18 Cheil were in the unique position of winning awards at all 11 of the global and regional award shows that we count in the Campaign Brief Asia Creative Rankings. Cheil’s star performance was at LIA 2017 where they picked up 410 points. They also performed very well at Campaign Brief’s The Work, AdStars, New York Festivals and One Show.Hong Kong CBA Rankings_Agencies2018.jpgAfter the past two years at #1 position in Hong Kong, Ogilvy drops to #2. Ogilvy has a total of 940 Creative Ranking Points over the past two year awards season.

The past 12 months had been a bit disappointing for the agency going on past performances with just 90pts from Clio and Spikes, however that trend changed at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity in June 2018 where they accumulated 240pts for their Hot & Spicy print work for KFC. This campaign is destined for big award wins at the award shows this year so the contest between Ogilvy and Cheil for Hong Kong’s #1 spot next year will be one to watch.
