Anil Kapoor celebrates son’s Diwali homecoming with Spotify

Spotify, the global Swedish media-services provider, has released its Diwali campaign comprising three TVCs, featuring Anil Kapoor and actor Ishaan Khattar.

Put together by Leo Burnett, one of the three films that released today, shows Khattar arriving home for his Diwali break. He greets his father (Kapoor), who in turn is delighted to see his son and pauses for a second to play the song ‘Chogada Tara’ on Spotify. Promptly handing over the slightly cumbersome work of fixing the serial lights on the wall to his son (Khattar), father dances off and disappears. The son stands mildly stupefied and amused but recovers quickly to go on and fix the lights.

Spotify India MD Amarjit Batra said the campaign was meant not only to capture the festive spirit of Diwali but also to keep the media provider’s playlists up to date and fresh. “Diwali is all about chores, family time, get-togethers with friends, and new beginnings. We wanted our playlists and campaign to be as fresh and fun as what this festive season brings.”

The Indian diaspora was also a key consideration, Batra added. “It’s also a huge festival for our diaspora audiences and our playlists have been created keeping those users in mind as well. This is perhaps one of the most important cultural moments for our users and we want to ensure we are a part of all that they celebrate.”

Spotify Technology S.A., founded by Daniel Ek and martin Lorentzon in 2006 in Sweden, is now incorporated in Luxembourg. The company’s core business is its audio streaming platform that provides DRM-protected music and podcasts from record labels and media companies.
